13th December 2021
On Monday 13th December 2021 Andrew Glover from The University of Sunderland visited Sunderland College Bede Campus to give a talk to the year 2 level 3 creative media students. This talk took place in the media building and was about Journalism courses at The University of Sunderland including Sports Journalism and Fashion Journalism.
This event was with Andrew Glover who is a lecturer and programme leader for broadcast journalism at The University of Sunderland, he joined the University in 2016. Andrew Glover has 34 years of experience within the media industry on both sides of the microphone and camera, he has worked for major companies such as the BBC, Sky News, ITV, Johnston Press and Trinity Mirror. He has an MA in Multimedia Journalism and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Glover is very passionate about journalism and firmly believes everyone has a story to tell. Andrew has won major industry awards including the Royal Television Society and Sony Radio awards.
I gained a lot of knowledge on journalism from this talk, i feel that i gained an insight to what studying any aspect of Journalism would be like at The University Of Sunderland. I found out that the course would take place over three years and that there would be 10 days of placement working as a journalist, I also learned that instead of completing a dissertation, students will complete a practical project that will be printed into a physical copy. I would definitely say that I know more about the Journalism industry and the media industry as a whole.
