A course that really appeals to me is Fashion Journalism which i can take as a three year long full time course resulting in an undergraduate degree at Sunderland University. This could help me prepare for a career as a fashion journalist or stylist, which is great because these are my biggest career aspirations. In this course i will learn editorial styling, catwalk reporting, trend forecasting, studio photoshoots, street style photography, podcasting, social media stories, beauty and video journalism and the history of the likes of Chanel and Mcqueen. I will develop skills on this course by getting hands on experience as part of the Fashion North editorial team and go on placements to places which have previously included Sunday Times Style Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Grazia, Elle, ASOS and Glamour. The entry requirements for this course are to have a UCAS tariff of between 112 and 120 points, a Pearson BTEC level 3 National Extended Diploma grades between DMM and DDM and at least three passes at GCSE grade C or above, which must include Mathematics and English Language. Sunderland University appeals to me as it is one of the only UK Universities that provide a Fashion Journalism course and there is a 100% student satisfaction rate on this course with 70% of students going onto employment after 15 months and 80% of students going onto work and study. Another reason Sunderland University is my top choice of university is because it is in close proximity to where i live, therefore there will be no living fees as i can live at home and very little travel expenses as i will only need to get one bus there. The tuition fees for the Fashion Journalism course at Sunderland University is £9250 in the first year in England.
Another course that appeals to me is Fashion Communication Which i can take as a full time course lasting three years which will result in an undergraduate degree at Northumbria University in Newcastle. Taking a Fashion Communication course at Northumbria University offers me the opportunity to explore the communication of fashion through images, experiences, film and the written word. I will develop skills by working on real life creative briefs, giving me practical experience within an industry context, this will help to prepare me for a career in the dynamic industries that promote fashion. The current entry requirements for this course is a UCAS tariff of 120 points and a portfolio of my previous work that highlights my experience in media and fashion. This university has a 75% student satisfaction rate with 78% of students in employment within 15 months of graduating and 89% of students going on to work and study, these stats really make the university appeal to me. I would not have to pay any living fees as i could also live at home while attending Northumbria University therefore, the only money i would have to spend daily would be travel expenses. There is currently no information available on the tuition fees of the Fashion Communication course at Northumbria University.
